Leather is a key fabric this autumn and while a jacket is a total no-brainer, wardrobe staple, there’s lots more out there in the world of leather and pleather. Lots of the trousers will be totally marmite and also man repelling but the skirts are actually an easy-wear. When I pulled out a pair of pleather joggers in H&M, my husband guffawed as if I had lost my mind. Perhaps I have but here goes…
Leather leggings have been around for ages but this season there are lots of other trouser silhouettes to choose from – joggers, culottes and more.
These come in black and a caramel colour
And here is their pleather offering which you’ll be lucky to bag online but may have more luck on sizes in stores.
And if you just want some faux leather leggings try these Faux Leather Leggings £32 Oasis.
This has already sold out in a number of sizes but is a great style to wear for work or out in the evening.
This is a gorgeous number – very sophisticated for work with cream, black, navy or grey. Or jazz up with heels and some satin or sparkle for the evening.
I don’t love the styling here at all but this is still a good skirt for wearing with a soft blouse or crisp white shirt or a nice crew necked or roll neck knit.
Another great alternative to black.
This season sees the return of the mini skirt and a leather mini is a good bet. Don’t necessarily think of this as an evening option as it works just as well, if not better, dressed down with a sweater and flat boots.
There are lots of different pleather options at Zara but this is my favourite partly because it isn’t black.
This is another good one.
Oasis has so many leather and pleather options to choose from and their leather is all at very good prices:
This comes in black and dark brown which looks distinctly burgundy to me.
This is in khaki, black and dark brown.
Love this with the cream knit and boots. There is also a black one.
And now to finish on a real wild card…I have to say I am really not sure how I feel about this as a concept but leather shirts are a thing and all the fash pack are wearing them. Yikes.
One thing I will say in defence of all things pleather and leather – you can’t beat it for wipe-clean-ability!
