Hitting the Spot

It’s been a few weeks but am back with a look at another of the print trends for this season – spots which are a nice antidote to all the animal and floral that has dominated shop floors. Polka dots have been big this spring and don’t seem to be going anywhere fast. So if you missed on out that Zara dress (it’s still on the site if you want it!) here are the pieces to go for and how to style them now and into the autumn:

Polka Dot Print Dress with plunging neckline £49.99 Zara

This is a lovely piece that you can easily wear with sandals or trainers now and then add knee high boots as here for the autumn. If you want to create more waist definition then just pop a belt on to cinch you in.

Polka Dot Dress with belt £49.99 Zara

Or if you are thinking further ahead to the autumn then this sleeved number would be great and a nice option for work too.

Polka Dot Prairie Midi Dress £69 Warehouse

A summery dress option that ticks not only the spot but also the prairie trend boxes. I love it with the barely there sandals but you could also wear this with boots and leather jacket – although admittedly you probably won’t be wearing this in the depths of winter on a grey and rainy day.

Black and White Starlight Spot Smock Dress £45 Topshop

Another monochrome option which looks fab with red accessories. Swap the sandals for red boots and a black blazer or leather jacket once the weather changes.

Navy Spot Midi Shirt Dress £129 Mint Velvet

This works equally well with trainers as it does with heels or boots for the office.

Patch Print Tea Dress £52 Oasis

This is a Rixo look-a-like for a quarter of the price. A lovely print combo that works very well with the white boots. Plus it comes in regular and long. You can still wear now with a denim jacket and trainers though for casual days and then easily dress up for the evening.

Polka Dot Button Midi Skirt £42 Warehouse

If you’re still after pieces for the summer hols then this is a lovely skirt for wearing with a white tee or a cami and then you can always pair with a winter white knit and tan boots or black for the autumn.

Micro Spot Button Skirt £129 Whistles

Wear with a t-shirt and trainers, dress up with sandals and a cami and then pair with a fitted sweater and boots for the winter. The perfect pop of colour to pep you up on dark days.

Pippa Blouse £50 Boden

Dress down with denim culottes and sandals or trainers or wear with black wide legged trousers or tapered legs for the office.

Polka Dot Shirt with Bow £29.99 Zara

Now this is very lovely indeed – a great statement piece to wear to the office or for a night out with simple black trousers/culottes/wide leg trousers or a skirt. And to make it easier to wear, the blouse is lined through the body so there is no irritating issue with what to put on underneath it.

Embroidered Polka Dot Oversized Blouse £25.99 Zara

This is a versatile number that you could just as easily pair with denim shorts as with leather look leggings/skinny jeans and boots once autumn is here.

Jodie Spot Kitten Heel Boot £139 Mint Velvet

And finally if it’s not too early to start thinking about boots, then these are a goodie. Subtle enough to go with everything but interesting enough to jazz up a plain outfit.
