Menswear Monthly: The Outerwear Issue

November is round the corner which means if you haven’t already got yourself a winter wool coat, then now’s the time. So with that in mind, here are my top picks of the styles you need in your wardrobe. It’s an item of clothing you are wise to invest in as it will see you through years to come but there are options to cover all budgets here.

The Classic Pea

You can’t go wrong with a Pea Coat. It’s a versatile number that will take you from parks to pubs and beyond. It’s your smart/casual wardrobe staple. In it’s classic form, it is navy but here are a couple of other options if you are after a grey or black.

Wool Blend Pea Coat £390 Polo Ralph Lauren

Wool Cashmere Pea Coat £340 Paul Smith

Westun Pea Coat £339 Ted Baker

This comes in navy or a dark grey and has the added benefit of being shower resistant.

Mallone Pea Coat £339 Ted Baker

If you want a black, then this is a good option and is also shower resistant.

Sacro Navy Pea Coat £295 Reiss

Navy Blue Cheviot Wool Coat £240 Massimo Dutti

Kilo Peacoat £195 John Lewis & Partners

Textured Double Breasted Pea Coat £95.99 Zara

The Overcoat

Another wardrobe staple, which  is obviously at the smarter end of the spectrum, but choose wisely and you can get a more versatile number that you can dress up or down.

Margate Funnel Neck Coat £379 Ted Baker

And this is my top pick. It ticks the box on so many levels: charcoal, texture, zipped lining which gives it a casual feel. Yes, yes, yes.

Galileo Charcoal Longline Overcoat £350 Reiss

And this is another one. The removable hood cleverly takes this coat from casual to smart.

Socaled Two Button Overcoat £359 Ted Baker

Another shower resistant option.

Wool Epsom Overcoat £295 Reiss

This comes in several colour options from camel to black, navy and dark green.

Herringbone Wool Overcoat with Detachable Lining £229 Massimo Dutti

Wool Coat with Removable Lining £229 Massimo Dutti

And if you don’t want to splash the cash yourself, these are definitely pieces to pop on the Christmas list.
