There are A LOT of sequins around in the shops at the moment which will either make you feel like a kid in a candy store or have you guffawing at the OTT nature of the shiny stuff. But given it is still the middle of November, I thought I would ease you into the party dressing theme with something a bit less in your face. And spoiler alert, next week’s blog will be about all the bling for those magpies out there.
So what are the less in your face options to wear for the festive season, if you are keen on more of a nod than a full on dive into Christmas dressing. Well starting with the bottom and moving up here are some party shoes. Sometimes all you need is a glitzy shoe and your whole outfit looks just right. Pop on with a pair of jeans and a jumper if it’s low key, add a blazer and a cami for a step up or with a dress/skirt depending on the dress code.
The Party Shoe
A flat shoe looks way cooler at a party than a vertiginous heel – it says I’ve made the effort but not that much. The definition of laid back chic. It also has the added benefit of comfort.
Love, love, love these. With anything and everything.
There is 27% off at Boden to celebrate their 28th birthday with the code D7E3 so take advantage of this offer.
If you find it hard to get flat shoes that stay on your feet then something with a strap is a good option. And what a pretty strap this is.
Kurt Geiger is also joining in the festive discounting and these embellished mules come in black, patent, leopard, camel and snake.
The Party Skirt
Without hitting the sequin trail, there are loads of skirts around that you can dress up or down. Wear with a chunky night and flat boots or trainers by day and dial up your look with a slinkier top and a heel for the night.
I have this skirt and have already worn it twice in the last week – once for the evening with a cami and some leopard boots and then once with a chunky knit, boots and fur for the day. The model is super tall as it is much longer on me!
If you don’t want pleats then this one is for you.
This is full on flower fairy.
This is a brand I have recently come across on Instagram which has some lovely pieces at great prices.
This comes in black as here, gold, bronze and burgundy. The gold and bronze are sold out apart from in sizes 6 and 8.
This is already out of stock in a number of sizes…so grab yours while the discount is on.
This also comes in bronze and is available in Petite as well as regular. Another one that looks fab during the day with a knit but can easily be dressed up for the evening.
This comes in other colours.
And if you want to go a step further then look out for next week’s full on bling – warning sunglasses may be required!
