Sneaking Around

Slight deviation from the winter staples this week because of the changeable weather that is playing havoc with our wardrobes. Some days it is definitely boots weather and others even socks are too much. So I imagine that, if you are anything like me, you are still wearing your trainers to death.

However, what I have noticed from seeing lots of clients over the past few weeks is that the trainers that you may have had for the summer, might not quite work now the autumn is here (or you might just need a refresh, a new option to see you through the next season if yours are looking a little past it). Surely a trainer is a trainer, you ask? Well not quite, because in the summer you tend to wear lighter colours whereas  in the winter your denim and bottom halves are darker which means a plain white trainer can sometimes look a little bit at odds. In simple terms you need something on the trainer to anchor it back to the darker colours you are now wearing – a little detail or pattern – but just something to stop the starkness of a plain white.

So if you are on the hunt for a new pair of sneaks then take a look at these picks which will work for all budgets:

Stars – the super easy non print that will give your footwear a bit of interest.

Dune Edris Star Applique Trainer £60.

Dune Edris Stud Trainer £70

John Lewis AND/OR Edie Star Trainers £85

Hush Ledbury Trainers £149

Russell & Bromley Big Star Luxury Sneaker £195

Russell & Bromley Five Star Sneaker £195. These also come with gold stars.

Golden Goose Superstar E37 Sparkle Leather Trainers £325. For the sneaker connoisseurs out there, Golden Goose has a whole host of starred numbers north of £310.

Brights – if you want to make more of a statement then go bright.

Maje Frencha glitter heel canvas trainer £209 Quite frankly bloody lovely. All except the price tag…

M&S Collection Leather Lace up Trainers £49.50 (these are a Holly Willoughby must have so sold out most sizes except the little ones and you can see why)

If you love the rainbow but the M&S ones are all gone, then try these Paul Smith Lapin Stripe Lace UP Trainers £175

Or these Kurt Geiger  Lane Rainbow Trainers £129. These come in sizes 2 – 9 so are perfect if you find yourself at either end of the size spectrum.

Old School – never out of fashion, these will always look the part.

adidas Originals Superstar £79.95

adidas Stan Smith £74.95

Animal – a total wardrobe staple, a hint of animal is all you need and they are surprisingly versatile thanks to the darkness in the print which works perfectly with darker denim.

White Leopard Print Trim Lace up Trainers £22.99 Although there are only sizes available in 4 and 5

Boden Classic Trainers £75 Again these are only in stock in 4 and 5 in John Lewis and at Boden they are all out of stock except 42.

Dune Elsie Contrast Stripe white Trainer £85.

Russell & Bromley Wildside Lace up Sneakers £195. These come with pink or white laces so you can change depending on your mood.

And if you’re wondering how to make your trainers last even longer into the season, then pop on a pair of Glitter Socks £3.50 from Topshop which will keep your ankle warm and look the part once it really starts to get chilly.
