Twinkle Toes

Three year old daughter: Mummy, you have cracked your head open!

Me: What? No I haven’t.

Three year old: Yes you have mummy, what’s that? (pointing to my forehead)

Me: Oh that, that is called a wrinkle.

Three year old: Oh dear.

Oh dear, indeed. Is this going to be the start of the slippery road to Botox or maybe more cheaply to cutting my fringe back in? Maybe not… because if I can divert attention from the Grand Canyon which has appeared on my forehead, then maybe nobody will notice.

And what better way to do it than with some jazzy shoes, well sandals actually because it is summer.

Brighten up a pair of jeans and in fact absolutely anything with these little gems. Here are my top sandals to bedeck and bejewel your feet and not for just by the pool on holiday.

New Look is a great for fun sandals and I have bought these Tan Leather Strip Beaded Sandals £22.99 which I have already worn lots with dresses and shorts and miraculously have escaped with not one blister.

Accessorize is also always a good bet for satisfying your foot magpie and these Jaipur Embellished Sandals £35.00 would look amazing with a floaty beach kaftan as well as with a pair of jeans and simple tee. They just make me feel all holiday-ish looking at them.

They also have these Kali beaded Sandals £27.00 but they are only available in limited sizes on-line. Clearly last weekend’s burst of sunshine has depleted stock.

If you don’t want to go bright, then something like this Stone Embellished Sandal £27.99  from New Look could be just the thing.

If you don’t like the gems and want something a bit sleeker, then go for a metallic sandal like this pair from New Look: Gold Leather Cross Strap Sandal £18.99. Bargain and bang on trend.

They also have these sliders: Gold Cross Strap Sandals £15.99 which would bring some serious glamour to the poolside.

These glittery Pieces Psevey Glitter Gold Sandals £30.00 on ASOS are another lovely option which would work well for poolside and in the evening for some laid back holiday chic with shorts, dresses or denim.

Another style sitting somewhere between sandal and shoe is this Jinny Leather Summer Shoe £20.00 at ASOS.

If you are looking for an answer to the height + comfort + fashion equation, then the flatform is what you need but make it a metallic with this Magnetic Double Strap Flatform £28 Office. The rose gold definitely takes this away from the orthopaedic end of the spectrum and moves it firmly into the fashion camp. Who knew there could be such a fine line…

Alterntatively, Kurt Geiger has these Deion Silver Flat Sandals £35 which are way more fashion than dental hygienist.

Not sandals at all, but nothing says summer and holiday like a pair of espadrilles. Make yours sparkly like these Betty Espadrilles from Boden £59.50. Guaranteed to brighten up your shorts or denim.

Kurt Geiger has these Mellow Silver Espadrilles £99 which also combine the flatform element to be doubly on trend and great for shorties.

Good old Zara also has this pair of Laminated Espadrilles for £29.99.

So whether your look is feminine, trend driven or all about comfort, there is something sparkly out there for everyone to act as the proverbial bells on your toes and to distract from other areas. Way cheaper than facial fillers too.
