The White One – finding the perfect white jeans

Warning, if you have small children with sticky fingers, then this post may not be for you…Because this week I’m talking about white jeans. I don’t know about you, but mine end up being a one wear item which has magical, magnetic qualities when it comes to stains. So while they aren’t an everyday ‘go to’, they are definitely part of my summer capsule wardrobe.

Tight white jeans are a big ask – much less forgiving than a normal pair of skinnies, so I prefer a looser, less fitted style which doesn’t shrink wrap your legs. It’s also really important to go for a denim that is weighty enough so you don’t see pants and pocket bags through it and I have tested all these high street styles to make sure your underwear remains hidden. If you haven’t yet found the ‘white one’ then here are my top picks to help you on your way:

Marks and Spencer has a couple of good options: Limited Edition Straight Ankle Grazer Jeans £35 which is a soft white and a nice, thick denim.

There is also the Relaxed Slim Mid Rise Cropped Jean £25 which is selling out fast. This is a natural colour which I like because you can wear it with white, which isn’t really an option with a true white jean unless you are going for the dental nurse look…

Or there is the Ripped Mid Rise Relaxed Slim Leg £25. The rips are very subtle.

Mango’s Judith Organic Cotton Straight Leg Jean £49.99 has very nice contrast stitching on it and is a soft white.

Alternatively, the Anna Straight Jeans £35.99 are a good length and a true white.

At H&M, try their Slim Ankle Jeans £49.99. These have a mid rise, slim leg and sit on the ankle.

Or their Vintage Slim Ankle Jeans £24.99 which have a high waist.

Zara’s Classic Hi-Rise Mom Jeans £25.99 are another good option.

My white jeans are from Topshop and are pre-kids but I still love them – I used to have a skinny pair but have moved onwards and upwards into a more relaxed style.

They don’t do mine any more but the two styles I would look at would be either the MOTO White Mom Jeans £40. The irony that they have an extremely un-mummy model dressed in a distinctly ‘teen’ vibe…but don’t be put off by the outfit.

Or the New Boyfriend Jeans £42. Sometimes you just need to size down with a boyfriend so that it isn’t super baggy and saggy over the bottom.

I thought I had just struck gold and managed to replicate my jeans but it would appear that they only come in a 32″ leg which is not so good if you are on the small side but go get ’em if you’re blessed with height: ASOS Design Florence Straight Leg Jeans with contrast stitch £32.

You could try Stradivarius Straight Fit Jean £19.99 if you are shorter.

Now if the high street hasn’t come up trumps then I would try one of these:

Citizens of Humanity Elsa Cropped Jean in Optic White £225

Or their Emerson Boyfriend in Soft White £275

I have several pairs of AG jeans, including this Isabelle jean in a light blue but this straight leg style also comes in white £225

Paige’s Hoxton Straight Crop Ankle Jean in optic white £225 would be another good bet.

And if you aren’t sold on the white jeans, then how’s about a white denim short? I bought these Frayed Denim Shorts £25.99 from Mango…
