Waist not, want not – Dresses to die for
Now is the time for midi dresses and skirts – before we all retreat into skinny jeans and boots and sensible coats. Buy wisely and you will have yourself a do it all dress that you can wear to the park and to the office or even out – if that ever happens. Even better, get yourself a long or 3/4 sleeved style and you will be able to wear it right through the winter too. This week’s edit ticks all those boxes with a particular focus on styles with an emphasis on the waist but there will be lots more coming if you’re after a more relaxed look. Here is your starter for ten.
You know the drill – pop on trainers and a denim jacket now and swap for boots and a leather jacket or wool coat as the temperatures drop. But for now make the most of the ankle flashing opportunities and get swooshing.
Mono Prints
Poppy Crinkle Print Dress £129 Mint Velvet
You can’t go wrong with an easy to wear mono print and this one will look even better belted.
Polka Dot Print Midi Dress £49.99 Zara
A spot is another easy wear all year round and I very much like the khaki colour which is a nice, softer alternative to black.
Florals
Clementine Midi Dress £150 Boden
A stunning print that looks great with a belt.
Floral Print Dress £59.99 Mango
Printed Midi Dress with Belt £59.99 Zara
Embrace the autumnal colours with this little beauty.
Printed Midi Dress £49.99 Zara
This has an empire line seam which can work better depending on your shape. Strictly speaking not totally in line with my sleeved criteria but it’s one I have just bought and have already worn several times with trainers and boots. And I will be popping a roll neck underneath once the winter strikes.
Animal
Snake Print Shirt Dress £59.99 Mango
Shirt dresses are big news this season and perfect for showing off your waist and curves.
Isabel Animal Midi Shirt Dress £129 Mint Velvet
A classic leopard will never date.
Get two looks in one if you swap the fabric belt for a contrast leather one.
Long Sleeve Kensington Dress £89 Hush
Go bright or go home with your animal print this season.
Next week, it’s the turn of the midi skirt with a whole new season worth of loveliness to tempt you.
