It’s back to business with my monthly spotlight on workwear and this month, I’m looking at the classic combination that is monochrome. Dogstooth or houndstooth (actually has nothing to do with dogs or teeth but just refers to the pattern itself) is where it’s at. If you are after something to lift your work wardrobe then this could be it. And far from being a one trick pony, or dog, it can slot just as easily into your weekend wear too.
Clearly nobody will be wearing this with shorts right now but this is a no-brainer with a pair of tailored black trousers/black jeans. It will also look fab over some culottes or with wide legs – add heels to counterbalance the volume. Or even over a black dress. And this will also work well at the weekend with denim. Yep, this is a hard working, versatile piece.
This is already sold out in several sizes so snap up yours. Love this over some pleather trousers/joggers too if you want a fashion-look.
Wear with a t-shirt underneath as the weather warms up or with snuggly knits for now.
This is a great style that will be just as good for the office as for the weekend.
This is a complete bargain for such a gorgeous coat.
This is coming soon but would be a perfect addition to your workwear wardrobe. Wear with a knit – either a semi fitted or more oversized one, depending on your preference, and boots.
Swap the trainers for loafers or heels and wear with a knit or blouse and you are office-ready.
I’m not crazy on the print clash – I would stick with the monochrome palette or just add a pop of a single colour. But that’s just me.
Not strictly monochrome as these are in a softer brown and tan but super for work nonetheless and I love this look.
The perfect office top – wear with trousers or a tailored pencil skirt.
As ever, a simple accessory is the easiest way to update your look so pop on a scarf with your winter coat and you’re set. This is how the fash pack are wearing theirs…!
Another gorgeous option that will work year-round.
The perfect way to add a spot of interest to a plain ensemble.
