Colour Clash: Red and Pink

It’s Valentine’s Day. So in a slight nod to this most commercial of days, this week’s blog is about one of my most favourite colour clashes – red and pink, the colours of love – you can all do a quick wretch now as all love-related chat is done and dusted. And now on to the much more important fashion bit – wearing pink and red together is not a new thing but this year retailers have taken the thought out of the process by presenting you with pre-clashed styles which combine both colours in one. Genius.

Here are my top ten:

Kitten Heel Pointed Shoes £19.50 M&S

If you’re not sure about combining these colours in garment form, then doing it on your feet is an easy way in. M&S has once again triumphed in the shoe department with these beauties which are a great heel height and super comfortable – I’ve tried them on. Plus they come in half sizes. And they are under £20 – total no brainer. Although I have to say, that M&S image doesn’t do them justice – they are much nicer looking in the flesh.

Henrietta Flats £80 Boden

I featured these on last week’s workwear blog but they warrant another entry here because they are so fab and perfect with jeans or tailored trews alike.

Diagonal Stripe Jumper £49 Warehouse

Absolutely love this jumper for the uplifting power of colour it brings to winter. Wear with jeans, posh joggers or tapered leg trousers or over a leather skirt.

Patti Star Jumper £80 Hush

A little less full on than the Warehouse sweater, this is still in stock in XS, S and XL.

Tammy Silk Cami £75 Hush

Love this with denim, skirts, tapered leg trousers, wide legged trousers, culottes etc. This would be perfect for holidays and great for the evening too. It also comes as part of a short set £85 which looks a darn sight sexier than my pj collection!

And you can also pair this with their Santana Skirt £45 for the ultimate colour clash

Abstract Animal Print Blouse £119 Whistles

For a printed top, try this one from Whistles which will take you from desk to dinner without a moment’s hesitation.

Textured Blazer £45 M&S

Wear over a tee or cami and pair with denim and flats. Or add into your workwear wardrobe and combine with a simple silk tee and tailored trousers.

Ava Dress £89 Finery

Think I may be slightly stretching the colour boundaries here but whether it’s technically coral or a slightly orangey-red, no matter for this is a dress of dreams. Wear on holiday, wear to a wedding or an occasion, wear with boots every day. But just wear it.

Karena Tea Dress £99 Finery

Here’s another little winner. I have to say that Finery’s dresses are looking super strong this spring with so many gorgeous options to choose from. Check them out in John Lewis if you want to see them in the flesh.

Jungle Cat Pleated Dress £179 Whistles

Colour clashing animal – yep that’s a lot going on so this head-turning frock is not for the shy and retiring.

Happy Valentine’s Day one and all!
