Furry Friends

For the last in my blogs on dressing for the festive season, I’m looking at fur. If you’re off out and sticking your winter parka on top, this may well just kill the look. So what you need is a spot of fur. Obviously not the real deal and there’s no need either because there are so many good looking faux options around anyway.

Incidentally – like a puppy – a fur is not just for Christmas and nor is it just for going out either. Pop this on over your sweater with jeans and boots for the day and you’re set. If you aren’t sold on the versatility, then know that they are also warm so ticks the practical box too.

Here are my top ten furs:

Zara Faux Fur Coat £95.99. I love the dark brown marl which is a bit softer than a black fur.

Zara Hooded Faux Fur Coat £89.99. The hood makes this a practical daytime option too, although probably not best for torrential downpours as the drowned rat look isn’t great.

Mango Faux Fur Jacket £79.99. For a shorter option this Mango style is super sophisticated and comes in black and a rather lovely dark red.

Oasis Faux Fur Short Coat £75. I love the texture on this short fur which is now only available in L or XL online but stores definitely had more stock of this.

H&M Faux Fur Jacket £39.99. If you don’t want to spend much then this is the one to go for as it looks much more expensive than the price tag would suggest.

Zara Faux Fur Jacket £49.99. A good option if you are after something lighter in colour and which also boasts a sensible hood.

Zara Faux Fur Jacket £69.99. Another lovely light colour which looks pretty darn chic.

Hush Lizzie Faux Fur Coat £220 If you are going for it, you might as well really go for it with a leopard fur and let your coat do all the talking. It is out of stock in 6 and 12 and is probably one to size down with as Hush tends to be very generously cut.

Boden Boxgrove Faux Fur Coat £170. Slightly softer than the Hush one but you will be out of luck unless you are a 12, 14, 16 or 20 or try John Lewis which has it in 8 – 16.

Zara Leopard Print Coat £89.99. There’s no XS or L but if you don’t want to invest quite so much then this is a goodie.

Now if you don’t want to go the whole hog, why not try a gilet instead: Oasis Ribbed Faux Fur Gilet £55 . This one comes in black as well as the dark grey.
