Hotting Up: it’s sundress time
Well hello heatwave! There’s only one piece of clothing that can help us survive in this weather and that is the sundress. This season’s hit style has to be a button up number and the vibe is pared back and chic. Here are 10 of the best and even better they are all under £50:
Linen is a huge trend for SS18 so this white linen dress from Zara ticks all the boxes. Plus some gorgeous sandals set this off perfectly.
Very similar to the previous style but with a sexy thigh split to boot!
Still on the linen vibe but strappier and in a gorgeous khaki colour, this Mango dress is lovely. It also comes in a beige stripe which would definitely require a bit of a tan.
For a very lovely stripe then go for this Warehouse number – but hurry it is already sold out in a few sizes.
Another stripe and a bright one at that but this sundress, also from Warehouse, is perfect for summer evenings.
Or there is this beauty from ASOS. Love the fresh green stripe but I am not keen on the shoes. And on that note, a flat sandal will work beautifully with all these. If you want a bit of height go for a wedge espadrille or a strappy block heeled sandal. This also comes in Petite.
As an alternative to stripes, why not try a gingham. This one is from New Look which actually has several sundress options to tempt.
If a plain white isn’t your thing (Morticia Adams skin/young children alert) then a pale blue chambray is another great alternative. Thank you Zara.
Now if you find it difficult to find a maxi style that works for your height, then try this style from Next which comes in 3 different lengths – regular, tall and petite. The waist tie will also be super flattering if you are finding all the gathering over the stomach on some of the other styles a bit much.
I love the broderie trim around the neckline of this Oasis dress. Plus the back is shirred which means it is more flexible size wise. And if this is too long, they also do the same style in a shorter length.
And if you are still stuck for dresses then just check out Sezane’s collection – I want them all. And now back to this glorious heat wave – even if you can’t sleep for the heat, you can still look cool during the day in a sundress.
