Put your best foot forward

There’s no denying that it now feels like the start of a new season. And September brings that January kind of feeling with it, of wanting to start afresh. So with that in mind, it is time to say goodbye to the sandals and start thinking about new season footwear. But before we jump headlong into winter and boots, there is a stepping stone on the way in the form of these stylish and practical flats:

Hattie Court Shoe £79 John Lewis & Partners. Now this is a total wardrobe staple and my top pick. The scalloped detail makes it a basic with a twist, which is the best kind of basic in my book. The black is a go with everything no-brainer, but the snake is also another great neutral option you can pair with everything and is hugely on trend.

Calli Snake Embossed Flat £98 Jigsaw. A shoe that works perfectly with black and navy – ideal. They also come in several other versatile options: light grey, silver and black.

Elalcia £60 Aldo. A loafer/pointed flat hybrid, this is the best of both worlds and a light neutral is perfect for transitional times. They also come in half sizes and are super comfortable.

Fleur Pointed Flats £41 Office. These are in the sale but they have stock on all sizes and are the fashionable high cut v shape.

Ballerinas £19.99 Stradivarius. They also come in red which is the perfect way of brightening up a work ensemble or pair of jeans.

Zebra Leather Shoes £59.99 Mango. Well these are the outfit – a look-at-me shoe. In a good way.

Evie Pointed Flats £98 Boden. From zebra to leopard, the jungle is king of the autumn trends.

Hipsta Slingback Pointed Flat £30 Dune. A more subtle form of animal with this embossed snake and with lots of slingbacks around these kill two birds.

Tweed Flat Shoes £25.99 Zara. With so much check and tweed around, this is another way to do the trend and a lovely statement flat to boot that will go with your tailoring and denim alike.
