Stars and Stripes
Ok this is actually really just the stars part because there is a whole load of astrological referencing going on in the fashion world at the moment. And much like a stripe, they are the ideal ‘non-print’. Undeniably cooler than a spot which can often look a bit British Airways meets the Halifax, here are the pieces which will jazz up your wardrobe by just the right amount.
Starting off at the bottom with footwear because the plain white trainer has been given a make-over and motifs are the order of the day. These White Glitter Star Trainers £19.99 from New Look are at the bargainous end of the spectrum and a good buy for under £20.
River Island has these Pink Sparkly Star Trainers £32 which on paper sound like they are hot out of a Lelli Kelly advert, but are in a whole different universe of taste/style/general niceness. Apologies to anyone who has Lelli Kelly’d their kids up.
Slightly jumping up a couple of price brackets are these Majestic Star Trainers £175 from Hush.
And gulp, further still, with these Golden Goose Superstar Metallic Leather Trainers £320 which you can buy from Selfridges. If you are a labels gal, then these are definitely up their for sneakers.
On the accessory front a star print scarf is a goodie and this one £15.99 from Mango would look lovely worn with casual and smart coats alike. A nice soft look with a camel or grey coat over denim or tailoring.
The White Company has this very pretty Halo star print scarf £35.40 which is in the sale at Selfridges reduced from £59.
Adorning yourself in stars is a nice, subtle nod to the trend and Hush has lots of lovely jewellery to tempt: Long Star Pendant £26 in silver. However, this is on a pre-order only for dispatch in several weeks.
So if you can’t wait, then they also have his shorter Star Necklace in gold for £49.95 and silver for £45.95.
And there is a matching bracelet in gold £39.95 and silver £36.95.
To totally star yourself up to the max, then they also have these Mini Star Drop Earrings for £19. Very pretty.
While Oliver Bonas has these Ju Ju Silver Star Stud Earrings £6.
And matching bracelet £16.
Stars on tops are an obvious way to go and you can start subtle with this White Star Print Burnout T-shirt £18 from River Island which is perfect with jeans, cargo pants, skirts and shorts. Just think of it as your basic white t but upscaled slightly.
At Hush there is this Star Slub V Tee £35 which would make a great addition to any casual summer wardrobe. It also comes with gold stars.
For a long sleeved option there is this Star Tee £75. I know the stars are embroidered on but this does seem a bit steep for a t-shirt…
While over at Selfridges, there is this Star Print Cashmere sweater £350 from Chinti and Parker.
For a smarter look then H&M combines stripes with stars in their Blouse with stand-up collar £24.99
All Saints also has this Picolina Embroidered Shirt £148. The perfect piece to wear to work with trousers and then out in the evening with jeans or leather/pleather trousers.
If it is a dress you are after then Boohoo has this Bowie Star Print Shirt Dress £20 which would work really well with trainers or sandals or even as a beach cover up.
And as for bottoms, Hush has these Star Denim Shorts £55.
So there you have it – a whole galaxy worth of stars to place all over your body. And even wear with those stripes…
