Summer without the Sunshine
Right, I’m going to do a little bit of reverse psychology on the weather and write about trousers in the hope that this will somehow herald the return of the sunshine… Clearly, I am actually aware that this will have zero bearing on the British climate. But anything’s worth a try, right? So if you’re bored of your jeans, here are some other options for your bottom half in the form of chinos and cropped trousers to keep you going when the weather is a bit on the meh side. Pair with denim jackets, tees/camisoles/tops and a whole host of shoes (or just your slippers if you’re at home).
Chinos
A classic navy chino which is sold out in John Lewis and got five star reviews but fortunately you can buy directly with Joules.
Devon Ankle Grazer Chinos £45 Fat Face
These come in eight different colours as well as short, regular and long lengths. Plenty to choose from.
Button Detail Chino £69 Mint Velvet
These come in short, regular and long and in navy and a light neutral colour as well as khaki. Various sizes are sold out though.
Daisy Chino Trousers £44 Boden
These are in the sale and come in stone and navy as well as a range of very Boden colours!
Stretch Cotton Girlfriend Chinos £75 Hush
These come in stone, midnight, washed black, light khaki and a camo print.
These come in lots of different colours.
Crops
Joules Compton Wide Leg Cropped Chinos £44.95 John Lewis
Channel your inner French chic even if you’re very much UK bound. The trick with wide legged cropped styles is that you don’t want them to be too short otherwise your legs will be chopped off and look shorter than they are.
As with a lot of Hush styles, these are generously cut so you will probably need to size down. They come in black and navy. Make sure you tuck in your tops at the front with these and wear with more fitted styles on the top as otherwise you will be drowned by all the volume.
Miller Wide Leg Jeans £75 Hush
I love the colour of this summery denim which works just as well with a blazer as with a simple tee and trainers.
And now let’s just hope for some sunshine so we don’t actually need to wear these right now!
