The Beauty of Blue
The colour of 2020 is Classic Blue according to the colour officials, Pantone. Seeing as this is a colour which is supposed to bring peace and tranquillity and instil calmness and confidence, no wonder blue is a great colour to wear to the office. So this blog is all about gorgeous shades of blue – classic or not – and with smart and casual pieces alike.
You’ve survived January so now it’s time to start looking forward and what better way to do this, than with confidence and peace. Whether you believe in the power of colour and its impact on your emotional well being or not, here are some fab pieces which certainly banish the winter blues with their elegant simplicity.
If you don’t have anything other than a dark winter coat, now is the time to invest in a lighter and brighter colour to see you through to the spring.
Double Faced Wool Coat £285 Whistles
Wear to the office, wear at the weekend, this is a versatile number.
Boyfriend Coat £189 Mint Velvet
Wear with other shades of blue all layered together for a modern look.
Oversized Coat with Wool £119 Zara
Salma Puff Sleeve Sweat Top £45 Hush
When life is mostly sweaters and jeans, make yours feel fresh by going for a sleeve detail. Big sleeves and shoulders are still big news this spring so this is spot on. Wear with denim, joggers or a midi skirt and biker.
Wool Blend Cardigan £85 &Other Stories
Just love all these cute cardis that are around at the moment.
Celeste Pointelle Star Mohair Cardi £160 Wyse
Another great piece from this gorgeous brand.
Cloud Cashmere Crew Neck Sweater £150 Jigsaw
If you’re after something classic, then this sweater is it. You can wear it to the office with tailoring, dress it down with denim or with a midi skirt.
Mead Silk Crepe Shirt £120 Jigsaw
A silk shirt is another classic wardrobe staple and while I do not love the styling here, with a pair of tailored trousers – slim/tapered/wide leg/culottes or a pencil skirt this would be perfect for the office.
Silk Camisole Top £45 &Other Stories
Perfect for the evening and for the summer with skirts/trousers, this is very lovely indeed if you can overcome the underwear issues.
This is a good smart/casual style you can wear to work or dressed up.
Kristen Pleated Skirt £110 Boden
Absolutely gorgeous skirt that would work in so many different ways – dressed up or down, summer or winter, day or evening.
If you need a formal dress for work, then this is a great style.
Tiered Midi Dress £119 Mint Velvet
Wear with a skinny roll neck layered underneath for now and with boots.
Pearl Buckle Belted Midi Dress £120 &Other Stories
Got a do coming up, then this is a gorgeous option.
Open Collar V Neck Midi Dress £85 Other Stories
A bit more dress up/dress down-able. Just add a belt and wear with boots – knee high, cowboy, ankle.
I don’t know about you but I could certainly do with a bit more peace and tranquillity in my life!
