The Colour of Autumn

Has fashion’s obsession with black finally come to an end?

Well judging by this season’s abundance of rust, caramel, tobacco, tan and even brown tones, this autumn is going to be a warm one. So here are a plethora of options to tempt.

I have to say that I won’t be going down the brown corduroy suit or even jacket route – that is a step too far for me but if you are in the fashion forward camp here is one for you from Zara:

Or this set from &Other Stories blazer £89, trousers £49.

Don’t let super retro 70s look put you off because there are lots of other very wearable ways to do this season’s copper tones.

For a more appealing head to toe look why not go for a dress that you can wear now with trainers or later with boots. This Sheer Stripe Midi Dress £79. from &Other Stories is lovely.

My favourite and perfect for now is this Rust Spot Shirtdress £49 from Topshop. It does also come in petite and tall and probably would need the slits sewing up slighlyt for modesty.

And this Geo Print Dress £49 from Warehouse is great for work.

Or Zara’s Flowing Shirt Dress £39.99 is another good bet for the office but may need the splits sewn up slightly.

If you have a ‘d0’ to go to then try this Satin Gown £59.99 from Mango. uh oh there is a white boot thing going on too. These will undoubtedly be fashion marmite.

A rust coat is the perfect sophisticated look with denim or tailoring. Zara’s Zip Up Coat £89.99 is gorgeous.

Another strong contender is this Single Breasted Coat £86 from Warehouse. Love the teal with camel too…

And for the perfect style you can dress up or down go for Hush’s Anya Long Coat £170.

It’s probably way to early for this but I can’t help but love this Teddy Bear Faux Fur Coat £ 89 from Warehouse.

You can do a more subtle splash with a sweater or top and there are lots of options to choose from. For a simple sweater go for this Crew Jumper £26 from Warehouse.

Or this Merino Wool Sweater £49 from &Other Stories.

Or for something textured try &Other Stories Mock Neck Sweater £35

Now if these true autumnal colours aren’t for you, why not stick to something on the bottom half and go for a skirt instead like this Pleated Skit £29.99 from Zara.

Or this Asymmetric Slit Midi Skirt £69 from &Other Stories. And there they go again those white boots.

Or a trouser – these Palazzo Trousers £29.99 from Zara are gorgeous with a blouse, shirt or fitted knit.

For work these Nuria Tailored Wide Leg Trousers £155 from Reiss are super sophisticated and you can even pair these with the matching blazer £275.

Tan accessories are a very easy way of adding a splash of warmth to your look so try this Leather Circle Tote £159 from &Other Stories.

For a simple shopper this Large Casual Shopper £36 from Warehouse is a good bet.

Boden’s Warwick Shoulder Bag £150 currently has 20% off with the code E1N5. I have a Whistles tan bag from several years ago that is still a favourite and is very similar to this one.

For something smaller try this Small Leather Circle Bag £99 from &Other Stories.

Gap has a cheaper version in its Cross Body Circle Bag £29.95

Or do it with footwear and these super on trend Leather Heel Mules £59.99 from Mango.

For a classic that will go with all your workwear, try Zara’s Leather Court Shoe £55.99

And the best news of all – tan and leopard go hand in hand!
