I don’t have a particular theme to this week’s blog as I thought I would do a post on the pieces that I have been buying a lot of recently with my clients. The more I shop, the more I find that there tend to only be a handful of good bits out there that work across sizes, shapes and lifestyles and this summer is no different.
So here is an edit of those tried and tested items:
Skinny jeans be gone
You need other options in your wardrobe than skinny jeans and Gap has a couple of styles which will do the trick.
These High Rise Cheeky Straight Jeans £54.95 look much more designer than their price tag would suggest.
Or go for the Real Straight Jeans £54.95 with a short leg length so they sit at the ankle.
Finally, their Best Girlfriend Jeans £49.95 are still a good bet.
If the sun actually comes out and stays out then you won’t want to be in your jeans. In which case, go for something like this Paperbag Peg Trouser £32 from Oasis. These are quite generously sized so you may need to size down.
Or for something more casual try these Cropped Easy Trousers £45 from Hush which also come in several prints. These come up large so you need to size down by at least one size.
A pleated skirt is something you can wear to work, dress up for a night out or dress down with trainers. This one from Oasis £42 is a good one.
As is this from Zara £25.99
For a floral number Zara has this Skirt with Lined Buttons £29.99
Or this Floral Print Skirt £49.99
If you’re stuck for things to wear with your skirts then this is a great t-shirt £12.99 from Zara
And you can never go wrong with a cami – Formal Vest Top £25 Oasis.
Finding great trousers is one of the hardest things to do. If you are curvy and find that the pockets on a lot of styles hit at just the wrong point, leaving you with an extra set of hips, then go for these from J Crew as the pockets are stitched down. The fabric holds you in at all the right places and has just enough stretch in for comfort. Plus they come in lots of colours and Petite as well as Tall.
Alternatively, if you are straighter through the hip, then these Zara ones are very good, particularly as they have an elasticated back: Jogger Waist Trousers £25.99.
A number of the tops I featured in last month’s workwear blog are now on sale so it’s worth having another look there if you are after a workwear refresh. There’s also this Lace Sleeve T Shirt from Karen Millen now £65 which is perfect under a jacket or worn on its own.
These Fragile Point Slingbacks £29 Office are perfect – they come in black, leopard and a rose gold. Stock is poor on the website for the leopard but ok on the other colours. Alternatively, try in stores or Topshop which also stocks Office shoes.
Hopefully, there is something for everyone in this smorgasbord of this summer’s best of the high street.
