Spring Obsessions – Broderie
I have to admit I am somewhat obsessed by pretty broderie tops and the moment when I finally swap my knitwear for blouses, is the start of spring for me (although I dare say I will be back in a sweater by the time I have finished writing this and the rain is her and the temperatures have dropped again). You only have to say Broderie Anglaise, embroidered or lace and I’m sold. But on a serious note, it is important that your wardrobe has some interesting pieces in it to lift the most basic of ensembles. A t-shirt will only take you so far….
So for me, these pretty little tops are a key component of any wardrobe and can be worn year round, layered up with the good old Heattech thermals and with a cardi over the top.
Here are a few different looks and these are just with denim. They also look fab with all sorts of other bottoms – from casual joggers and summer weight trousers (more of those next month) to tailoring and more…
Here are some of my current favourites if you are in need of a bit of detail in your life and there is something for every budget too.
T-Shirts
Broderie Anglaise sleeved Top £12.99 H&M
The perfect example of an elevated basic – it will go with everything but has just enough detail to make it interesting. You need some of this in your wardrobe.
Love this and it also comes in a light green.
Freda Detail Lace T-Shirt £45 Hush
Broderie Puff Sleeve T-Shirt £49 Whistles
Another easy to wear elevated basic which also comes in black.
Short Sleeve Tops
Flounce Trimmed Blouse £14.99 H&M
These types of tops sell out very quickly so if you like it, then don’t delay!
Altheda Broderie Top £60 Boden
This gorgeous little number also comes in navy and cream but it is sold out in so many sizes already – that’s how good it is.
Fleur Embroidered Top £70 Boden
Another one that comes in a whole host of colours but hurry if you want the white as it is already out of stock in a couple of sizes – although always worth checking the John Lewis website too. Great for pear shapes to add a bit more breadth up top and rectangles too as it will create more dimension to your frame.
Bonnie Broderie Blouse £89 Whistles
The tassels on the ties add a bit of Boho.
Broderie with shorts is a much more put together look than a t-shirt.
Also in a pale pink and light blue. Just gorgeous.
Ruby Cotton Dobby Top £120 Wyse
So much to love about this piece – not least the subtle metallic.
Sleeved Blouses
Love and Roses Broderie Frill Neck Blouse £34 Next
If you haven’t already checked out this brand, then do as they have some gorgeous pieces.
FatFace Renee Ruffle Broderie Top £39.50 Next
Clotilde Shirt £45 Marie & Lola
Another fab French brand with a pop up shop near Parsons Green if you are in the area. The vertical lines created by the trims are helpful to elongate the body.
Broderie Anglaise Blouse with Scallop Hem £49 Bricks & Stitches
Also in white and pale blue.
I have this – so head to my Instagram Stories to see this up close on me.
Wyse has so many gorgeous options to choose from including this style which also comes in black.
Bonnie Broderie Blouse £150 Wyse
Available to pre-order, this is one of several colours including navy, khaki and pale pink – so lots of choice.

Please can you send me a link for the jeans in the first photograph? The mid length wider ones?
Thanks so much
