Pretty Little Thing
Let’s talk tops… because spring is the time when you are no longer living in knitwear (hopefully) and it can be easy to fall into the t-shirt trap. Don’t get me wrong – there is nothing wrong with a tee which is itself a key component of your capsule wardrobe. But you do need some other tops in your life too.
And for me the styles that you want are versatile pieces that you can wear just as easily casually with a pair of jeans, trainers and jacket as you can with trousers and smarter footwear for the office as well as working into the evening. So in the spirit of creating a versatile wardrobe, here are a few of my favourite options out there:
This little cheesecloth blouse comes in both ecru and a gorgeous green and as you can see looks fab with shorts but you can definitely smarten this up.
A super versatile dobby number you can go anywhere in – beach to bar.
This comes in black and white and is definitely a pretty little thing!
Whistles is always a go to brand for me when shopping for clients but their tops are often on the short side which means they won’t work for everyone. They are also rather wide so you do need to size down for a more flattering fit. However this is a lovely in the flesh. They also do a similar style with a short sleeve . As well as a frillier collar style
This is another lovely brand with great pieces that should be on your radar if not already.
I have a gorgeous broderie blouse that is the same style as this which I have worn so much over last summer. A really easy little top to pop on and if you haven’t already looked at Lilou then do as it is a gorgeous brand. Also check out Pippa and Vanessa among others in the collection. But hurry as there are always limited numbers available.
I always look to Sezane for this type of top as they do a very good job indeed and this is one of them.
Perfect for the office but also lovely for drinks. It also comes in stunning green.
This is the upscaled version of a t-shirt with beautiful detailing – another wear with everything style. And if you head to my Instagram you can see me try these on in my stories highlights. There are so many more to choose from though although I would say be a bit careful on sizing as they come up on the large side so you do often need to size down.
And if you are after something more interesting than a basic tee then check out these options from Whistles:
And now for a bit less rain and a lot more sunshine if you don’t mind so we can actually start the business of wearing our spring wardrobes!
